Car News: Mitsuoka Galue S50 Limousine plops onto the scene

Mitsuoka, that tiny Japanese manufacturer who makes the wonderfully wacky Orochi sea monster, has introduced its latest automotive mash-up, just in time to give us a Halloween fright. It is a derivative of the company's Galue III (the return of the shapeshifter) and is known as the Galue Limousine S50.

This shouldn't be confused with the company's Galue 204 Toyota Corolla rebody, or the Galue Convertible, which is based on the Ford Mustang. Instead, this limo is based on the Infiniti M, but incorporates styling touches from such classic designs as the '94 Cadillac Fleetwood, the Rolls-Royce Phantom and the Apple iPhone. While that might not sound too offensive, trust us, it is.

Remember the classic Beetles with the R-R grilles? Imagine that on a new Infiniti M35. And out back, that gracefully curved rear has been amended with Caddy taillight protrusions.

Where once stood a B-pillar, we now have a foot-wide panel that houses an oversized iPhone-like glass panel. Like the retro-classic Excaliburs of the '70s and '80s, Mitsuoka apparently feels people will like modern running gear hidden beneath "classic" British looks.

Priced between 8,016,750 yen (68,600 euros at the exchange) for the 223-hp 250LX to 9,345,000 (80,000 euros) for the 313-hp 350LX 4WD, we think that's a lot of coin for a Frankencar like this. Heck, you could probably find a used Continental GT for about the same. You could even rebadge it as a Hyundai if it makes you feel better.

New Images for Aston Martin One-77

The One-77 was announced just a couple of months ago but has already sold out. Its deep pocket-buyers, who've had to leave a hefty £200,000 deposit to place their orders, will have to wait until late 2009 for their cars to begin coming in.

Dutch automotive
site 925.nl has unearthed new images of the upcoming Aston Martin One-77.

Proving once again how daring supercars can be, the One-77 was announced amid one of the worst slumps in the automotive business in decades with the eye-popping price tag of £1,050,000 or roughly 1.4 million euros.

Aston Martin has limited production to just 77 models, in keeping with true supercar tradition and settling on the obvious number 77, the same one that designates the car.

The car's details are few but the One-77 is expected to come with a 7.3-liter V12 engine
churning out over 700hp. It will also have aluminium body panels and a carbon fibre chassis.

Spied: Suzuki Swift JWRC Special Edition in Japan

Based on the Suzuki Sport which launched in Europe in late 2006 with a 125 bhp (91 kW) 1.6 liter DOHC VVT engine, these pictures show an updated body kit which includes redesigned front bumper, side skirts, tail lights and rear bumper fascia. More specifically the front bumper has fog lamps with painted silver surround and LED driving lights plus JWRC badge on the rear door upper frame.

A loyal WCF reader from Japan has sent us these interesting images that he took of what appears to be a special Suzuki Swift JWRC (Junior World Rally Championship) model.

Over the summer Suzuki released the Suzuki SX4 WRC Special Edition for the German market and now it appears the same will be applied to the Suzuki Swift to commemorate the recently concluded 2008 JWRC season.

The Swift JWRC will most likely receive interior treatments similar to the SX4 WRC such as a leather shift knob, carbon trim details, CD-Radio-Navigation system, dark tinted glass and key-less 'Entry and Start'.

Car News: Audi releases official sketches for A5 Sportback, A7, and next-gen A8

Just as it did back in July with its upcoming R8 Spider convertible, Audi has released several teaser sketches for some of its important future models. The images reveal new details about the upcoming A5 Sportback model due next year as well the all-new 2010 A7 four-door coupe and next-generation 2011 A8 flagship saloon.

The closest of these future models to production is the A5 Cabrio, which as expected will be styled almost exactly like the Coupe but will feature an automatic folding soft-top. More interesting is the A5 Sportback, which as the images reveal looks more like a low-slung sedan that a traditional Sportback hatch. Both these models will feature the same powertrain lineup as the A5 Coupe and will be available in the performance ‘S’ trim and possibly as RS versions as well.

The last model to be previewed in this latest series of sketches is the next-generation D4 A8 due in late 2010. The single image of the flagship saloon reveals a single-frame grille design
, a low profile roof, and a much more aggressive look than the conservatively styled D3 model currently on sale. The new engine lineup will feature a 250hp 3.0L V6 TDI, a 290hp 3.0L V6 FSI, a 340hp 4.2L V8 TDI, a 372hp 4.2L V8 FSI and finally a 620hp 5.0L V10 FSI reserved for the S8.

Next in line is the A7 four-door coupe, which is expected to be launched late next year as a 2010 model. Unique elements are the extremely short overhangs, reminiscent of the TT Coupe, as well as aggressively tapered headlamps, and a straight roofline that slopes down and blends directly into the rear hatch. The A7 lineup will start with a 204hp 2.8L model, followed by a 300hp 3.0L supercharged version, and finally a 394hp 4.2L V8 range topper. Eventually an RS7 model will be added to the lineup and this is expected to get a 600hp twin-turbocharged 5.2L V10.

Other new models in the pipeline for Audi include the A1 minicar, R8 Spider and V10-powered RS R8, all of which are expected to go on sale next year.

Fiat's Bugster electric off-road concept revealed in Sao Paulo

Fiat has opened Sao Paulo Auto Show today with the official presentation of Bugster. The only problem is that Bugster was only the development name of the car. Its real name became FCC II, short for Fiat Concept Car.

Equipped with a real electric engine, able to develop 59 kW (80.2 bhp) and 220 Nm, FCC II is powered by 93 lithium-ion batteries and is able to run up to 100 km. The concept vehicle is 3.25 m long, 1.81 m wide, 1.48 m tall and has 2.16 m of wheelbase. Its large tyres, 255/55 R19, give it a mean appearance.

If it was able to carry more batteries, it surely would be better both in range and in performance (not disclosed, but easy to guess with its engine), but it would weigh much more than its 980 kg.

FCC II uses only one engine, but it could have at least one per axle, what would make it a real 4x4. Anyway, it is already better than any stationary 1:1 model.
